Press Release 10th April 2008

NurburgMotorsport helps out first time Porsche Cup Race Team Car Number 766

With a few days to go for your 1st Porsche Cup Race with your brand new 250,000 euro investment and after weeks of organisation and testing you finally reach the Nurburgring and then disaster strikes – a complete routine clutch replacement is required.

This is what happened to the Maxicard sponsored Porsche Racing team in the build up to their first entry into the highly competitive Porsche Cup Racing Team at the Nurburgring. So you call all your contacts and eventually someone says try NurburgMotorsport, a newly formed Company based at Quiddelbach, operated by VLN Racing Team Manager, Manfred Scheer and with the English owner Ken Harris.

As Manfred Scheer told the team when he got the telephone call “what do you need and how can we help?”

Over the next few days the Porsche Team moves into the specially prepared Racing garage at NurburgMotorsport some 2 miles from the Ring and work begins on the re-build.

As Business partner Ken Harris says “this was not the time to discuss short term storage contracts as the real Race to get to the start line was already on. So we just shook hands and said we shall help in any way we can - we are racers too. ” Over the next few days parts were ordered using the wireless internet access at the Quiddelbach HQ,  the Teams double wheeled transporter was stored within the highly secure compound, coffee was on tap as the Team worked late into the night.

Ken Harris continues “they kept asking me, so politely, what time can we work to tonight? My reply was simply you are the customers it’s up to you! Finally at 11:30pm one evening we discussed and agreed the need for a short engine power up and some quick “short shifts” through the gears. This was the first power test and a make or break moment for the car and the Team. I decided that since the whole local economy is based on racing, the 5 minutes of late noise pollution could be justified to the local authorities, if necessary, after all this is real Racing and we are the Nurburgring!  All was fine!”

We would like to wish the Maxicard sponsored Porsche Cup Racing Team in car number 766 all the best for their first race at the Nurburgring. They kindly are sporting the new NurburgMotorsport advertising company sticker on their immaculate prepared white Porsche race car- we know this will bring them luck and help to them to bring the car home safely.
